Here’s a press release that I sent out recently to local media about drone photography:
Joe Miller recently earned his drone certification through the FAA and is now able to use his drone commercially for photographic purposes.

The certification is required for anyone using a drone for business purposes and helps protect those in manned aircraft. Untrained drone pilots can cause problems for those flying regular aircraft if they don’t know the laws, regulations and best practices.

The two-hour test requires a lengthy study process which includes learning how to read aeronautical charts, weather reports and much more.
“I was surprised how much regular aviation information I needed to learn,” he said. “But I passed with flying colors.”
Miller is now prepared to assist those who need photographs or video from the air, including realtors, home builders, contractors, farmers and more. The small drone Miller currently has is easy to launch and get in certain locations to capture images and video. The drone camera can acquire 4K video and 12 MP still images.
“This drone will provide excellent quality for most jobs,” Miller said. “I wanted to get into drone photography because it offers such a unique perspective. I love the artistic views it can provide.”
Miller has already captured many unique views around Northfield that would make beautiful fine art wall images to decorate homes and businesses.

Miller, who photographs for commercial work, websites, group and event photography, high school senior portraits and landscape fine art photography, has had his work published in local, regional and national publications. Those who have eaten at the Northfield Applebee’s have seen his work filling the restaurant’s walls.
